If Heimat could trace its roots back to one fruit, it would be the Blackberries that grew in the backyard of the founder's grandmother. Her grandmother crafted liqueurs from the fruit nearly 100 years ago, and Ute uses the same recipes today. Only now these blackberries are from the Hudson Valley, and Heimat works with a farmer who leaves the blackberries on the vine just a short time longer to allow for an extra bit of sweetness.
